The Brain from Planet Arous

Our Take

Brain from Planet Arous (1957) - A giant, floating, telepathic brain with eyes named Gor arrives from outer space to take over the world by hiding inside a scientist's skull. If that sounds like a fever dream, that’s because it is. This is 1950s sci-fi at its most unhinged and paranoid, featuring a protagonist who starts acting like a total sociopath because of his alien passenger. It’s a low-budget psychological thrill ride that leans hard into the absurdity of its premise. It’s weird, it’s campy, and it’s a beautiful artifact of Cold War anxiety and monster-movie madness.
