Intolerance: Love's Struggle Throughout the Ages

Our Take

Intolerance (1916) - D.W. Griffith was a megalomaniac who built a Babylonian empire just to prove a point to his critics. This is a sprawling, four-headed beast of a movie that collapses thousands of years of human hatred into a single, overwhelming visual assault. The sets are so massive they make modern green-screens look like dollhouses. It’s a loud, crashing symphony of prejudice and hubris that practically screams at the audience from the past. An absolute colossus of silent cinema that refused to play it small.
