Ninjak vs the Valiant Universe (2018) TV Series

A British intelligence agent and martial artist with a dark, mysterious alter ego battles his way through the heroes and villains of the Valiant Universe.

Colin King is Ninjak, MI-6’s deadliest intelligence operative, and weapons expert. When the ruthless assassin Roku exploits his greatest weakness, Ninjak will be forced to betray his closest allies. Now, on the run, he must face off against the most powerful heroes known to man for a high-octane, take-no-prisoners trial by fire more perilous and more unpredictable than any he’s faced before.
The implementation of the costumes of the characters and their abilities, the atmosphere, the performance of the actors and the special effects are incredible. As you ask yourself every time why Hollywood scrap does not get it so synonymous to the series in so many ways.

Starring Ciera Foster, Derek Theler, Katelyn Statton, André Gordon.

Star Trek: Horizon (2016)

A fan-made film with the heart of the Star Trek franchise!

In a time prior to the United Federation of Planets, a young coalition of worlds led by Earth battle the Romulan Star Empire for their very survival.

I am so amazed at all the work that goes into making a fan film. This is one of the best I’ve seen. This film was made to tie up some loose ends caused by the cancellation of Enterprise. It was very well done and made to look very professional. The special effects and story line complemented each other and it seemed like most of the characters played off each other very nicely. Some people seem to go above and beyond to critique the acting, story, cgi, etc… for those of you who do, why bother watching at all? Me, I am happy to no end that people give their time, talent and money to put together a quality film that could have actually been made into an episode.

Thunderstorm: The Return of Thor (2011)

Battle versus forces of darkness

A group of religious zealots known as The Death Risers have an evil plot to destroy the world by bringing to Earth the Norse God they worship: The Goddess of the Undead, known as Hel!.

If you watch this movie, you’ll notice that it’s not a high budget, but everything else is high production. The story, the screenplay, the acting are all above par. What’s most surprising is that unlike most B movies that rely on shtik to keep the story going, this movie keeps excitement from start to finish without any.

Directed by Brett Kelly
Cast: Emanuelle Carriere, Jody Haucke, Ray Besharah, Gabrielle MacKenzie, Celine Filion

Voldemort: Origins of the Heir (2018)

A fan made prequel to the Harry Potter series based on Tom Riddle and his progression to becoming The Dark Lord.

This fanfilm really shows how much dedicated fans can accomplish with a 15,000 euro budget and a runtime of less than an hour – with no motivation other than their love for the series.

The result is a minimalistic, dialogue-heavy film full of references to characters and events from the official Harry Potter movies/books. The inconsistencies are either too small or too few to matter, though hardcore fans might notice. It is essentially a small backstory made into a film. As such, it will probably appeal to longtime fans, but at the same time leave them wanting more, due to the film’s short length.

The production values are surprisingly good for being a fan film. The special effects are nice and full of eye candy, certain sequences are really well edited, and the portrayal of Tom Riddle stands out.

It is a polished film with some memorable lines here and there. They really could have messed up on this one – and they didn’t. If you are a fan of the Harry Potter series, go give it a watch. It’s free (due to the non-commercial nature of the film), it doesn’t stray too much from the canon, and, after all, it only lasts an hour.

Director: Gianmaria Pezzato
Writers: Gianmaria Pezzato, J.K. Rowling (novels)
Stars: Stefano Rossi Giordani, Rorie Stockton, Aurora Moroni

Killzone: Intercept (2012)

Killzone Intercept is Amazing Live-Action Fan Film

The short film takes place shortly after Killzone 2, a small ISA squad is ordered to prevent a large contingent of Helghast troops from intercepting the retreating ISA convoy. Outnumbered, the squad takes on the task with hopes of getting everyone off Helghan alive. The film is based on the Killzone series, a popular first person shooter on the PlayStation 3 platform. It’s an independent sci-fi action project. It took 2 years to produce with the help of volunteers and even with the assistance of the game developers. Killzone Intercept occurs before the events of Killzone 4 as the ISA evacuate Helghan. The protagonist, a small scout squad is called upon to stall a large group of approaching Helghasts that plan to cut off the ISA convoy from reaching the extraction point. Outnumbered, the squad takes on the task with hopes of getting everyone off the planet alive

Killzone: Intercept is a live-action short by Infectious Designer, the alias of 30-year old up-and-coming filmmaker Brian Curtin. Brian and his friends burst onto the YouTube scene four years ago with the release of ‘Concrete Hustle’, a well-choreographed light saber battle that demonstrated Brian’s talent for creating impressive scenes and special effects on a budget. Two years later, his Half-Life inspired short ‘Beyond Black Mesa’ created a huge stir among gamers and gaming websites.

I consider myself an Art Director/Graphic Designer by day and Independent Filmmaker by night. I’ve always been interested in the arts. Early on in high school it was illustration and animation. Moving on to college I studied Graphic Design, but I was always making stupid little videos with friends in the dorm rooms and around school. I graduated with a Graphic Design focus, but I kept making videos on the side. They’re a great creative outlet. Plus, they kept getting better due to my growing experience and improvements in technology. The first video we uploaded to YouTube was Concrete Hustle, a humorous lightsaber duel. We technically tried to make it serious, but I think that’s what makes it funny. It took a year before it really started becoming popular. That gave us motivation to tackle bigger projects that inspired us, like the Half-Life based Beyond Black Mesa and after that, Killzone Intercept.

It’s always awesome to see Corridor Digitals videos when they have a bit of a budget. They are probably one of the best youtubers out there. Corridor is one of the best youtube channels. They are constantly inventive, and it’s kinda shame they only seem interested in doing commercials for game/movie companies. If they made an actual movie I’d bet it would do really well.
