Ator: The Fighting Eagle (1982)

“Ator: The Fighting Eagle” soars with cheesy fun and sword-swinging action

“Ator: The Fighting Eagle” is a cult classic of the sword and sorcery genre that’s perfect for those who love their movies with a heavy dose of camp. The film stars Miles O’Keeffe as Ator, a muscle-bound hero on a quest to save his love interest from an evil high priestess.

Despite its low budget and cheesy special effects, “Ator: The Fighting Eagle” manages to capture the spirit of the pulp adventure novels that inspired it. The film is filled with swashbuckling action scenes, bizarre monsters, and plenty of over-the-top dialogue.

This 80s fantasy adventure is a guilty pleasure worth revisiting

One of the highlights of “Ator: The Fighting Eagle” is its villain, played with scenery-chewing relish by Sabrina Siani. Her character is a witch who commands a legion of mutants, and she delivers some of the film’s most memorable lines with a gleeful sense of evil.

While “Ator: The Fighting Eagle” may not be for everyone, those who appreciate its charms will find themselves thoroughly entertained. This is a movie that revels in its own absurdity and delivers exactly what it promises: a fun and cheesy adventure that’s perfect for a lazy afternoon.

Overall, “Ator: The Fighting Eagle” is a must-see for fans of cult cinema and the sword and sorcery genre. Its mix of action, romance, and fantasy make for a guilty pleasure that’s hard to resist.

Directed by: Joe D’Amato
Starring: Miles O’Keeffe, Sabrina Siani, Laura Gemser, Ritza Brown

One Of The Seven (2021)

Amazing Lord Of The Rings Fan Film!

Two dwarves have been sent to retrieve a magic ring from the elves, but the ring of power has a will of its own. The elven king has to decide how to deal with the dwarves. This is a fan made story adaptation based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s works ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’.

>Rough around the edges but considering the limitations and the plot, I think this is one of the best made fan made movie I have seen. For example, I like the way they used a narrator for the plot and used the best props and whatnot they could find to make the film very good quality and put a lot of attention on the plot to be worthwhile. We need more of this because Hollywood has gone down the drain!

The Last of the Mohicans (1992) US only

One Of The Greatest Adventure Films Ever

The last members of a dying Native American tribe, the Mohicans — Uncas, his father Chingachgook, and his adopted half-white brother Hawkeye — live in peace alongside British colonists. But when the daughters of a British colonel are kidnapped by a traitorous scout, Hawkeye and Uncas must rescue them in the crossfire of a gruesome military conflict of which they wanted no part: the French and Indian War.

>This is turning out to be one of my most favourite romantic epics of all time. I know most people do not see this as romantic as it is a classic battle movie. As a matter of fact, seeing the trailer and the posters left me with the impression that this is indeed a war movie, what with the battle scenes and all; something along the lines of `Braveheart’. But upon seeing the movie, I was awed by the unexpected change in genre. The movie is a masterpiece, and all the actors and actresses certainly do amazing jobs. Daniel Day Lewis is simply amazing as Hawkeye. Though I usually try to read some of the more interesting books based on which movies are made, I haven’t read the book in this case. But I sincerely doubt whether the book can be as good. Plus, I am told that the movie and the book have little in common.

Zeiram (1991)

Ultimate Japanese mutant science-fiction that blends Terminator, Predator and Alien!

Absolutely average duo of hardworking losers got stuck-up in intergalactic chase through The Zone. They help kickboxing female bounty hunter and her AI assistant catching Zeiram, the first unstoppable killing machines in history.

>This one definitely fits in the category of guilty pleasures.

>Basically, it’s about a beautiful female bounty hunter from another planet named Ilya who comes to Earth to stop an evil alien monster named Zeram that has also come here to avoid capture. She and her computer (creatively named Bob) create an alternate dimension that she sends Zeram into in order to fight it without hurting anybody (if an innocent person gets killed, you see, she and Bob lose their bounty hunting licenses). However, a couple of dorky guys from Earth manage to travel to the dimension with her, and so she must not only defeat the monster but protect them. And that’s pretty much it- this has one of the simplest plots I’ve ever seen, but it’s an entertaining movie nonetheless- the action is cheesy but fun, and there’s plenty of it, with the typical low-budget sci-fi f/x. Ilya is played by a very good looking actress, and her character is something of a cross between Boba Fett and Xena Warrior Princess. And thankfully, the two “comic relief” characters don’t get too annoying, as is often the case in action movies that come out of Asia. It’s nothing special, but this movie does deliver, so check it out if you get a chance.

Directed by Keita Amemiya
Starring Yûko Moriyama, Yukijirô Hotaru and Kunihiro Ida.

Float (2019) – Pixar’s Story of autistic children

Amazing story and a tear jerker! Pixar did it again!

PG | 7min | Animation, Short, Family | 2019 (USA)
A father discovers that his son is different from other kids in the most unusual way. To keep them both safe from judgement, Dad covers him and keeps him out of sight.

Spot-on story of autism

Speaking as a parent to two autistic children, this film has been excellently made. I don’t think everyone will ‘get it’ but certainly every parent who has a child with additional needs will. This is such a well put together film, (short film too at less than 6 minutes) that tells one of the most poignant, moving and spot-on stories of autism that I’ve ever seen.
