Dave Chappelle Speaks Out on George Floyd’s Death, Blasts Candace Owens in Searing Netflix Special!

During his set, Chappelle addressed the killing of George Floyd and the protests that have sprung up across the country in response. Throughout his time on stage, Chappelle returned to 8 minutes and 46 seconds, the amount of time former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd's neck during his attempted arrest, subsequently killing him. "I can't get that number out of my head because it was my time of birth on my birth certificate," Chappelle said.

I was born at 8:46 in the morning and they killed this nigga in 8 minutes and 46 seconds.

The special was filmed on June 6 in Yellow Springs, Ohio, with coronavirus-era social distancing guidelines in place for attendees, including face masks and temperature checks.

It’s hard to figure out what to say about George Floyd, so I’m not going to say it yet,” Chappelle opens, flipping through a black notebook, later adding, “I got to tell you, this is like the first concert in North American since all this s— happened, so like it or not, it’s history. It’s going to be in the books.
