Sherlock Jr.

Our Take

Sherlock Jr. (1924) - Buster Keaton literally walks into a movie screen and breaks the fourth wall before the wall even knew it existed. This is meta-cinema before the term was a glimmer in a film student's eye, a surrealist dreamscape where the laws of space and time are just suggestions. The motorcycle chase alone is a miracle of timing and balls-out bravery. It’s a film about the magic of movies, filmed by a man who was the purest magic the medium ever saw. Genius doesn't even begin to cover it.
