Foursome (TV Series 2016) – hookups, parties and high school drama

An Edgy Comedy Series exploring hookups, parties and high school drama

Foursome TV series was picked up by YouTube for its Red subscription service.Foursome is an American romantic comedy web series, starring Jenn McAllister and an ensemble cast of other social media entertainers and professional actors. The series is produced by AwesomenessTV, and premiered on March 30, 2016 exclusively for YouTube Red.

Foursome is an edgy comedy series from DreamWorks Animation’s AwesomenessTV starring social media influencers Jenn McAllister and Logan Paul.

Foursome was created by Selyna Warren and Marissa Shields. The six-episode series stars McAllister as the undeatable Andie who is on a mission to shake her stigma as the younger sister of Paul’s Alec with the help of her three best friends. Rickey Thompson, Meghan Falcone, Cameron Moulene, Brooke Markham and John Milhiser also star.

In a bit of a departure from the teen-friendly fare that YouTube has funded, Foursome is described as exploring hookups, parties and high school drama. Amy York Rubin directs and executive produces alongside Warren, Shields and ATV’s Brian Robbins and Shauna Phelan. Brin Lukens and Scott Levine are producing.

Phelan explains that ATV wanted to create a series that would feel authentic to its teenage audience. “We’re definitely pushing the envelope but it’s, for us, about creating engaging characters and stories that we think will be relevant to our audience,” she says. “This is a topic that our audience wants to hear about.”

The series will use comedy to explore the more dramatic topics. “Even though this relationship has heart as well as some real moments, relationships and hookups are rife with comedy,” she continues.

And although that title, Foursome, has a provocative connotation, she insists that at its core, the series is about Andie and her best friends — another foursome, if you will. “This happens to be a comedy that tackles relationships and sex, but it really, truly is about this core group of four friends,” says Phelan.

The Century of the Self (2002)

The Century of the Self (2002) – Watch The Most Important Documentary

The Century of the Self is a 2002 British television documentary series by filmmaker Adam Curtis. It focuses on the work of psychoanalysts Sigmund Freud and Anna Freud, and PR consultant Edward Bernays. This video combines all four episodes in one video – Happiness Machines, The Engineering of Consent, There is a Policeman Inside All Our Heads; He Must Be Destroyed and Eight People Sipping Wine in Kettering. This series is about how those in power have used Freud’s theories to try and control the dangerous crowd in an age of mass democracy. The Century of the Self asks deeper questions about the roots and methods of consumerism and commodification and their implications. It also questions the modern way people see themselves, the attitudes to fashion, and superficiality. Although we feel we are free, in reality, we—like the politicians—have become the slaves of our own desires.

Using chilling footage and lucid voice over, it traces the methods by which Freud’s discoveries about the sub/unconscious mind were systematically implemented by corporate America in the 1920’s and later the U.S. government to increase their wealth/power while at the same time giving people the impression of greater personal freedom. It was Bernays who founded the 1st public relations firm and coined the term “engineering consent”.

Flash Gordon (1936)

A Cult Series With a Magnificent Transposition of Cartoon by Alex Raymond to the Big Screen!

When a mysterious planet is menacing to collide on Earth, the athlete Flash Gordon (Buster Crabbe) flies by plane to meet his father in New York and stay with him during the collision. While traveling, Flash meets the blonde passenger Dale Arden (Jean Rogers) and they become friends.

In the Twentieth-First Century, the special effects of this film are very cheesy and dated, like in an Ed Wood movie: visible wires holding rockets and flying objects, quite ridiculous “maquettes” of the cities, the fire dragon, the fly and movements of the rockets with fire in the propellers, even the behavior of the character of Dale Arden, screaming, fainting, being paralyzed in the dangerous situations are very funny in the present days.

The Flash Gordon serials of the 1930s used several big guys (most of whom really were not actors) to bring to life the characters of a serialized cartoon. This is the first series, and, some of the experts believe it is the best. I am not an expert on Flash Gordon or serials, but I know what I like, and this serial was more entertaining and enjoyable than other classics like Radar Men on the Moon and The Phantom Creeps.

Directed by: Frederick Stephani, Ray Taylor
Starring: Buster Crabbe, Jean Rogers, Charles Middleton
